Tasty Korean Food 3—East Asian Pizza Pie (annex: way of cooking)

In fact, the name of the title is not only proper to be called “potato pie”, but also this kind of food is not same as pizza pie, so we just call it “East Asian Pizza Pie”.

Everybody must be familiar with potato pie, don’t you? Here, let’s add the cucumbers into this dish. It’s so coordinate to mix the refreshing cucumbers with crisp potatoes.


It’s also very easy to cook the Cucumber-and-Potato Pizza Pie. The possibility of failure is zero.

If we put some seasonings onto the Pizza Pie, we will have a much more wonderful taste by eating it. And you won’t enjoy this kind of taste until you eat it by yourself.
It’s my mother and my sister who ate this kind of pizza firstly, and they said it was really very delicious. We also had supper by eating this kind of pizza pie, it’s always delicious to eat as meal or snack.

Preparing:
Several potatoes (maybe 3 big and 5 small size of potatoes)/ a cucumber/ table oil/ salt/ pepper/ cheese or some seasonings could take place of cheese/ salad/ tomato paste (or other seasonings as you like)/ starch and water

Cut the cucumbers into threads and we’d better select 3 or 4 refreshing and thick cucumbers. The cucumbers what the author used is from BongHwang Farm in Korea.
(Potato is primary material and cucumber is adjunctive, so we must use much more potatoes.)
Cut potatoes into pieces and after finishing the process of dehydration, sprinkle salt onto the potatoes equably.

Then put them into the pan like the picture above, and put some oil into it. It’s much better to put potatoes whose amount just equal to 1/2 height of the pan(no space among the potatoes). And then put the cut cucumbers onto the potatoes, remember pressing it for several times.
Use low flame to evaporate the water in the pan, in order to burn it equably we could rotate the pan. (Moreover, put the flour and a little water into it until the flour blends into the water. Then put the flour water into the pan equably.) During the process, keep the low flame heating.
Cover the lid and bake the pan for about 7~8 minutes, use shovel to turn over the materials, if they have turned light yellow, turn them over to bake and until both of the two sides turned yellow.
The pictures above are plate and pan, we could turn over the pan directly into the plate, but we must be careful to do like that.
Cucumbers and potatoes, cucumbers seem to be burned, because it turned black.

Put the cheese onto the baked cucumber-and-potato pie. Heat it in the microwave until the cheese melting. Then get it out of the microwave.
Then put some of tomato paste onto it(or other seasonings as you like), according to your fancy, nothing is also all right.

It’s welcome by children and adults, if we are visited by guests, we could entertain them with the cucumber-and-potato pie.
Maybe it’s also a good way for parents to hide the cucumbers or potatoes into the pies and give it to the children who don’t like cucumber or potato. (Titters)
